For some elderly and/or disabled individuals, maintaining absolute autonomy in daily life sometimes becomes impossible. It is even more challenging when these people live in remote areas, far from urban centers and shops. Since January 1, 2019, the Puget-Théniers Hospital Center has been offering a new home help service to ensure a certain quality of life for this population in difficult situations. The system implemented by the Communauté de Communes Alpes d’Azur in the High Country aims to expand into the Var and Estéron valleys. The population of these territories is critically lacking in local services.

Currently established in the municipalities of Valberg and Guillaumes, it is expanding to the municipalities of Saint-Martin d’Entraunes, Entraunes, and in the Estéron. It will then extend to the municipalities of Puget-Théniers, Massoins, and in the Lower Tinée. Forty-eight people are already benefitting from personalized support thanks to the work of specialized staff. They help these men and women perform daily tasks and maintain their living spaces. The number of supported individuals will soon increase to 65 by extending the program to the municipalities of Roquesteron, Gilette, Sigale, and Bonson.

The beneficiaries have been visited at their homes to understand their needs and ensure the proper delivery of services. A new vehicle funded by the Alpes-Maritimes Department will also be made available to the Hospital Center.
