The Metropolitan Council elects its president.

Latest News

After the elections of the mayors of the municipalities, it is now the Metropole’s turn to elect its governing bodies, its president, the Vice-Presidents, and the presidents of the commissions in order to resume normal operations.

Unsurprisingly, Christian Estrosi will be reelected thanks to an overwhelming majority of votes. It remains to be seen whether he will make changes to the team from the previous term due to the few changes in the municipal elections and the internal balance within the majority group.

However, Philippe Vardon (RN) has announced his candidacy by writing to the 49 mayors of the municipalities that make up the Metropole, calling for a “return to a sense of freedom.” This is merely an attempt for form’s sake and to position himself as the number one opponent to the one who will be the leading thinker and actor for the next six years.

Staying with the opposition, we can assume that the environmentalist group will confirm its abstention as it did during the election of Christian Estrosi as Mayor of Nice.
