After the clash at DJ Avener’s concert on Saturday night, when the roughly 5,000 partygoersโhelped by alcoholic drinks and jointsโlet themselves go with great joy, the organizers (the City Hall with approval from the prefecture) had forgotten that the virus is still circulating and that physical presence at shows does not abolish barrier gestures and distancing rules (the small excuses made did not silence the controversies), we are back to square one.
There will no longer be 5,000 spectators allowed to gather for public events, but only half that number, 2,500. Face masks are mandatory as well.
Christian Estrosi communicated quickly: โI set the limit to 2,500 people maximum for all events even outdoors and I make wearing a mask mandatory.โ
Just in time, or perhaps… why not return to a 1,000-person limit from the first post-lockdown decree throughout the summer, while waiting to have more clarity in autumn?
Perhaps he had read the President of the Republic’s tweet published on July 12: โYou know them, they save lives: barrier gestures are not an option! Against the virus, protect yourself and protect your loved ones.โ
In fact, Saturday night, he and his collaborators were in the clouds: how could they imagine that 5,000 people or more would listen to pop-rock music with the attitude of seminarians in prayer?
