The “Young Talents” culinary competition has come to Nice.

The Young Talent Master Restaurateurs contest is open to apprentices and cooks under twenty-four years old.

For this ninth edition, the Paul Augier high school hosted the national final this Tuesday.


To reach the final, competitors first had to undergo a qualifying round. Strasbourg, Nice, Toulouse, Orlรฉans, Annecy, Rennes, Paris, and St-ร‰tienne hosted the candidates. The best dish from each phase was then qualified for the final.

Eight candidates competed in Nice for the first time in the contest’s history. In four hours, the finalists were to create a dish and a dessert for four people with two themes and a set basket of products. “Sea bass with citrus fruits, accompanied by its garden of the hills of Nice” for the dish and “Around the Strawberry” for the dessert.

A Prestigious Jury

To distinguish the apprentices, three juries examined their every move. The tasting jury for the dishes consisted of Jacques Chibois, 2 Michelin stars, Christian Morrisset, 1 Michelin star, and Jean Marc Delacourt, 2 Michelin stars.

For the dessert tasting jury, it was Marcel Desoille, Jacques Eber, and Denis Fรฉrault who analyzed the plates.

Behind the stoves, the technical kitchen jury took over with: Theo Mansi, Eric Sikora, and Michel Deviller.

Thierry Marx, a double-starred chef, was the sponsor of this ninth edition. “A man who will succeed is a man with a project.” The chef is very invested in the competition.

The eight candidates selected for the final were: Joy Lutz, Mylรจne Treziรจres, Anthony Jeremias, Thomas Lamic, Marion Burel, Adrien Balensi,
Diane Arlot and Brice Garrabos.

The winners of the contest were: in 1st position, Thomas Lamic, 2nd position Mylรจne Trezieres, and in 3rd position Marion Burel.

For the winners, the sponsors were generous. A plane ticket to New York, champagne, wine, pressure cookers, coffee makers, and Fragonard gift sets.
