It was inaugurated this Sunday, on the day of the 125th anniversary of the institution. Olympic House will unite under one roof the approximately 500 IOC employees who were previously spread across four sites.

โ€œOlympic House reflects both our overarching mission to make the world a better place through sport and the reforms of Olympic Agenda 2020, based on sustainability, credibility, and youthโ€ – Thomas Bach, IOC President

Designed by the Danish architectural firm 3XN, it adjoins the historic headquarters of Chรขteau de Vidy and was built on the site of the previous headquarters inaugurated in 1986.

โ€œExactly 125 years ago, on June 23, 1894, at the Sorbonne, Pierre de Coubertin created the IOC and revived the Olympic Games,โ€ stated Mr. Bach. โ€œHe saw it as a means to promote peace among people and nations, and in that, he was a visionary.โ€

The โ€œOlympic Houseโ€ spans 22,000 square meters compared to the previous 5,000 square meters, with construction costs amounting to 145 million Swiss francs (128 million EUR).
