Beautiful shots for a sad reality

Until September 12th, the Maison de l’Environnement in Nice is hosting an exhibition by wildlife photographer, Greg Lecoeur. The exhibition showcases photographs of an unknown part of the Mediterranean, which is currently in danger. The photographer aimed to reach all the people of Nice by creating panels that are understandable even to the youngest visitors.

This is a necessary exhibition, and that is how to describe “A Breath in the Mediterranean โ€“ Here Life Begins.” Two large rooms are dedicated to allowing visitors to discover the world of Greg Lecoeur. The photographs are displayed on large panels affixed along the walls. The posters help to organize the photographs by themes such as “Strange World,” “Heat if You Can,” “From the Depths,” or “Common Misconceptions.” These are rare images of magnificent marine species, with breathtaking colors. The photographer from Nice knows how to capture “the moment.” This talent results in images full of energy that seem to be in eternal motion.

An Entertaining Exhibition

Aware that the future of the environment is in the hands of children, Greg Lecoeur seeks to raise their awareness. It’s not just a simple photography exhibition; it’s also an exhibition for learning. At the entrance, a game booklet is available: questions, additional information about the animals… At the end of the visit, children can collect the answers booklet along with a small gift. But Greg Lecoeur didn’t rely solely on this booklet to make the visit engaging. On each panel, below the photographs, a short text has been added. It’s possible to read the names of the species as well as in-depth information about them. This is a way to educate the general public about the specific characteristics of marine animals.
