Mรฉtรฉo France announces a new heatwave episode for this week, with maximum temperatures that could reach 40ยฐC.
In anticipation of this heatwave, the General Directorate of Health reminds everyone of the advice to protect themselves and their surroundings, especially the most vulnerable people.
A guide has been released:
๏ท Infants and young children: Make sure to protect them continuously from the heat (avoid going out during the hottest hours, make them drink and hydrate regularly, have them wear a hat and sunglasses, and apply sunscreen on them). Never leave them in a poorly ventilated room or vehicle, even for a very short time.
๏ท Children: Encourage their hydration and cooling. If you care for them, keep an eye on them to prevent drownings. During the summer of 2018, accidental drownings increased by 30% compared to the summer of 2015, particularly during periods of intense heat.
๏ท Workers: Drink plenty of water several times a day. Be vigilant for your colleagues and yourself. Protect your skin from the sun, and if you feel unwell, report it quickly.
๏ท Athletes: Avoid physical activity during the hottest hours of the day.
๏ท In case of chronic illnesses or regular medication, do not hesitate to seek advice from your doctor or pharmacist.
