The fare for the “Zou!” transport card, aimed at young people aged 3 to 26 inclusive, will rise from 15 euros to 110 euros starting in September 2019. This represents an increase of more than 700% for new subscribers. Existing subscribers will be able to benefit from a preferential rate of 70 euros, which is almost a 400% increase.
Patrick Allemand, former First Vice-President of the Region and current municipal and metropolitan councilor, reacted vehemently: “Who are we kidding? All the justifications put forward by the South PACA Region to try to explain this record increase will not manage to justify the unjustifiable. Renaud Muselier and Christian Estrosi have just carried out an unprecedented robbery of the wallets of parents whose children use the ‘Zou!’ card to reach their school.”
With the cries “We cannot let this happen,” a petition has been launched on change.fr titled “No to the unacceptable increase of the Zou! card in the South PACA region,” to challenge this increase.
