This Friday at 6:30 PM, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the International Convention on the Rights of the Child, Amnesty International Nice is organizing a debate conference at the Amnesty House (36 rue Gioffredo) on the theme: “Foreign Unaccompanied Minors, Children First.”
After a brief introduction on the growing phenomenon of unaccompanied children on the road to exile worldwide, in Europe, and in France, with a reminder of the commitments of the countries that signed the CRC, Mireille Damiano (Syndicate of Lawyers of France) will speak about the pushbacks of UAMs at the French-Italian border and will recall past and ongoing legal actions.
Then, Cathie Lipszyc will present the actions of the association Tous Citoyens for sheltering these minors and the issues related to the non-recognition of their minority status.
