Christmas: The people of Nice are satisfied with their gifts

Latest News

After the unusual end-of-year celebrations, it’s time to exchange the less appreciated gifts. In Nice, in resale shops, video game exchanges are making waves.

It was the most anticipated time for the younger ones! It is, of course, Christmas, with its magic and its presents. In the “Cash Express” store, just steps away from Old Nice, Serge Larrere, behind his counter, witnesses a usual situation: “there is no more activity in the store than in the last few months.” With gifts, it’s often hit or miss. We’ve all received a gift we didn’t like.

According to the experience of the resale store manager, “it’s still a bit early to exchange gifts; people return with board games and digital gadgets in January.” Inside, phones with cracked screens parade by, and video games pile up on the shelves.

In resale shops like โ€œCash Expressโ€ or โ€œCash Converters,โ€ the items that are exchanged and bartered are largely phones, consoles, and even bicycles. The goal is to allow customers to bring their items to resell or exchange them at a similar value price.

Video Games, the Gifts Exchanged First

Each year, it is estimated that gifts worth 363 million euros are resold. At the top of this list, video games lead. Within “Cash Converters,” located in the heart of Nice, Gaรซtan Longo notes an increase in video game exchanges: “right now, video games are being bartered, people come to exchange them. One game stands out, Cyberpunk 2077, it’s recent but had some issues.”

Video game consoles remain trendy among the young. Awkwardly, customers often deny giving back or exchanging a Christmas gift. One thing is certain, in resale shops, everyone finds their happiness.
