The Tour de France was not just a one-day race.

For two days, Saturday and Sunday at the Vauban Athletics Stadium, while the runners were racing along the roads of the Nice region, two hundred children, sponsored by the Secours Populaire, were able to enjoy the initiative of the FDJ Foundation, called “the forgotten ones of sport,” which allows a thousand young people to discover the Tour de France and experience BMX during a day of vacation each year.

The aim of this initiative is to promote access to leisure activities and vacations for young people in difficulty. This day spent at a stage of the Tour de France allows them to attend a major sporting event, discover the world of cycling, and explore a city.

These initiations were made possible thanks to the installation of a mobile track and a launch ramp, alongside the road taken by the Tour de France riders. After a picnic, they watched the peloton pass by, especially the riders from the Groupama-FDJ cycling team.

During these days, the Secours Populaire also offered fun learning workshops such as bike repair and exploring various cycling professions.

The Libraries Without Borders association, supported by the FDJ Corporate Foundation, was present in Nice for both days with a media library and hosted digital initiation workshops.
