Vaccine pass: the four major points modified by the Senate

Latest News

The Senate voted in the night from Wednesday to Thursday, in the first reading, and after significantly modifying it, on the bill transforming the health pass into a vaccination pass.

โ€“ A threshold of 10,000 patients.
Senators added a threshold of 10,000 hospitalizations below which the vaccination pass will be lifted.
Indeed, the pass can only be imposed when the number of hospitalizations related to Covid-19 exceeds 10,000 patients nationwide, and would therefore be removed below this threshold. It could, however, be maintained in departments where a full vaccination rate is below 80% of the total population or where the virus is actively circulating.
According to the health authorities’ figures, the number of hospitalized patients is currently around 24,000.

– Not mandatory for minors.
The presentation of a vaccination pass will not be mandatory for minors.
For those aged 12 to 17, the obligation to present the current health pass, meaning by producing the negative result of a screening test, remains in place.
The Senate, however, voted in favor of a single parental authorization for the vaccination of 5-11-year-olds, as is currently the case for 12-15-year-olds.

– Removal of identity checks by cafe owners.
They also removed the possibility for bar, cafรฉ, and restaurant owners to carry out identity checks to ensure correspondence with the vaccination pass.

– Removal of remote work sanctions.
Additionally, the senators opposed administrative sanctions against companies not complying with remote work or not applying protocols.
Sanctions allowing these companies to be fined up to 1,000 euros per employee in administrative fines.
