The epidemiological situation is stabilizing in the Alpes-Maritimes.

As of Wednesday, February 2, the French are no longer required to wear masks outdoors or work from home three or four days a week. With the review of health restrictions, an overview of the pandemic is being taken.

In its weekly situation update on February 1, the ARS Paca estimates that the viral circulation in the region “seems to be stabilizing,” while indicating that the indicators “remain at a high level.”

More specifically, in the Alpes-Maritimes, the incidence rate (the number of cases per 100,000 inhabitants) decreased in one week, dropping from 4,244 to 3,364 in the Alpes-Maritimes.

The ARS attributes part of the decrease to the now widespread use of self-tests.

From January 24 to 30, 118,000 tests were conducted in the Alpes-Maritimes. The positivity rate for the tests reached 27%.

The incidence rate remains extremely high, in particular because of the overwhelming presence of the Omicron variant, which accounts for 98% of the screening tests.

Even though it is deemed less dangerous than its predecessors by epidemiologists, it continues to send people affected by Covid-19 to the hospital.

In the Alpes-Maritimes, there are:
337 hospitalized (+10 compared to the last report)
88 in intensive care (+2).
