Latest News

While infectious disease specialist Jรฉrรดme Salomon stated that a lockdown in รŽle-de-France “is not currently on the agenda” despite hospital tensions, it will be extended next weekend in the Alpes-Maritimes. A third weekend with travel exemption certificates awaits the residents of the department 06, as well as those in Dunkirk where the lockdown has also been extended. Hereโ€™s the Covid update…

In the last 24 hours, health authorities recorded 27,166 new Covid-19 cases and 266 deaths in France, according to the latest information provided by the French Public Health Agency.

The total tally now stands at 3,990,331 confirmed cases and 89,856 deaths (of which 64,612 occurred in hospitals) since the beginning of the health crisis.

The positivity rate of tests remains stable at 7.3%. As of March 10, 4,337,343 people have received at least one dose of the vaccine across the entire national territory.

9,595 new hospitalizations and 2,217 admissions to intensive care have been recorded over the past seven days.

In the PACA region

Faced with the virusโ€™s circulation, as last weekend, the Ministry of Solidarity and Health will strengthen the supply of vaccines in French departments under heightened vigilance. The Provence-Alpes-Cรดte dโ€™Azur region will receive 18,720 additional Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine doses for this weekend.

People over 75 are prioritized this weekend

The vaccination centers opening this weekend will prioritize vaccinating people over 75. These individuals have been eligible since the early days of the vaccination campaign. As they continue to face difficulties in booking appointments, health and prefectural authorities are giving them priority access to vaccination slots this weekend.

The first positive effects of vaccination

Since the vaccination campaign launched on January 4, 2021, over 170,000 people over 75 have received a first dose. Positive effects from the vaccination are already being observed. Therefore, it is essential to continue our efforts to vaccinate these more vulnerable and at-risk individuals against Covid-19.

The scaling up of already open vaccination centers cannot occur without the mobilization of all stakeholders: territorial professional health communities, local authorities, civil security forces, and health establishments. The list of open centers in each department can be found on our website.

In the PACA region, 1,496 people are hospitalized (+9), 485 people are in intensive care (-5), and 6,108 people have died in hospitals since the beginning of the health crisis (+34).
