Paris-Nice: Due to the lockdown, the race will not finish on the Promenade

Latest News

The Alpes-Maritimes prefecture has just announced in a press release this Thursday noon that meetings are underway between the organizer A.S.O. Amaury Sport Organisation and the State services to “adapt the course” of the race following the renewal of the weekend lockdown in the coastal municipalities of the Alpes-Maritimes.

“In any case, these stages can only take place outside of the confined area and behind closed doors,” it added, effectively ruling out the finish of the race on the Promenade des Anglais. After the announcement of a partial lockdown on Saturday and Sunday in part of the Alpes-Maritimes, Christian Estrosi requested a “modification of the finish.” The prefecture has just announced that the race will not finish in Nice but outside of the confined area and behind closed doors.

The initial program planned an 8th and final stage on Sunday over 110.5 kilometers with the start and finish in Nice. The day before, the stage was also supposed to start from the center of Nice, a short distance from the Promenade des Anglais.
