Météo France has issued an orange weather alert for “thunderstorms” today for the Alpes-Maritimes department.
An active Mediterranean episode accompanied by severe thunderstorms is expected to develop this afternoon across the entire department, including the coastal area. These storm systems may produce very strong wind gusts, intense electrical activity, and sometimes intense hail showers.
Throughout the event, 50 to 100 mm of rainfall are expected, with up to 150 mm possible in the mountainous areas locally.
Easterly winds with gusts of 100 km/h and a strong swell from the south are also anticipated, with waves potentially reaching up to 3 meters.
