The nightmare continues for the Eagles of Nice. Back in their nest at the Jean Bouin hall after a defeat against the leader Rouen, the locals once again struggled. This time it was against a team from Cergy Pontoise.

The Cergy Pontoise team is ending their season at full speed. They just secured their third consecutive victory by defeating the inert team from Nice with a score of 5 to 2. It didn’t take long for the Jokers to take control of the match. The red and black goalkeeper Rok Stokanovic had a very grim evening. During the first third of the game, the Slovenian fetched the puck from his net four times.

The first goal was scored by Kevin Lorcher followed by Robert Diffley. With this early lag, the Azureans were struggling and failed to find a viable strategy. Their opponents punished them within a mere two minutes through Alexandre Lubin followed by Norbert Abramov. Before the first break, the team from the รŽle-de-France region gave a lesson in control to the team from Nice. The second period was scoreless for both sides.

However, fifteen minutes before the final whistle, Philippe Bureau-Blais sealed Stokanovicโ€™s fate for a fifth and last time. The team led by Stanislav Sutor found spaces towards the end of the match and reduced the deficit with goals from Rรฉmi Thomas and Antonin Dusek. Unfortunately, the gap was too wide, (2-5) and the Eagles ended the day with heads down for the seventh consecutive time.

In terms of standings, Nice continues to fall towards the bottom of the ranking. Now in sixth place, the Azureans must fight to consolidate this position if they want to avoid being overtaken by Mulhouse and Bordeaux who are tied on points.
