A new chapter has just been written in regards to this case that will forever be etched in the memory and minds of the people of Nice.

Eight suspects, seven men and one woman, are being sent to trial at the end of the investigation into the July 14, 2016, attack in Nice according to the indictment signed Monday by four anti-terrorism judges.

They have decided to send eight suspects, seven men and one woman, including three for “criminal terrorist conspiracy,” to the special assize court.

The three main defendants are suspected of being “aware of the existence of a plan” for an attack by the perpetrator, a 31-year-old Tunisian who was shot by the police that same evening. The investigation established that he acted alone.

The other five defendants are suspected of participating in a criminal conspiracy. The charge of complicity in murder is therefore no longer upheld, in accordance with the recommendations of the anti-terrorism prosecutor. Some of the defendants are also being prosecuted for violations of firearms legislation.
