The Eagles’ slide seems to never end, with four consecutive defeats in the games played during the week giving the impression that Stan Sutor’s players are out of steam.
On Friday, on the Cergy-Pontoise ice rink, the azure-colored team performed poorly, conceding 6 goals to add to the 7 from the previous match against the same opponent two days earlier, and another 7 scored by Chamonix, a direct opponent for playoff qualification. This Saturday in Angers, they gave their all, but not enough as last Sunday.
In the Paris suburbs, the match took a bad turn from the start, with a first goal after 33 seconds of play. The Nice team came back in the second period, taking the lead (2-1), but Cergy’s response was fatal for them: two goals conceded in the same period and another two in the third, for a final score of 6-2.
In Angers, the match was played point by point (1-1, then 0-0), but the Dukes had the last word, winning 2-1.
In the standings, Chamonix now has a 2-point lead over Nice and must play two more matches.
Next week, the azure team will host Bordeaux and Grenoble. There is a small glimmer of hope for a last-minute qualification, but it is really tiny!
