After two lean years, with two electoral campaigns (municipal in 2020, regional in 2021) that took place quietly, the improvement in the health situation has allowed a return to good habits…
Thus, Christian Estrosi, on the eve of the presidential election in April and legislative immediately after, gathered his “friends” to mark the end of the break and set the tone for the upcoming crucial weeks.
By reminding everyone that “his” association is the number one party in the department with more than 9,000 members (more, incidentally, than that of Les Républicains led by Eric Ciotti), the Mayor of Nice could not help but express his pleasure, and more: “What a joy to reunite with you after so many past challenges that prevented us from gathering before this date. It is those who have always accompanied me that I wanted around me. Thank you all for your loyalty.”
More than a thousand supporters, in addition to municipal and regional councilors and several metropolitan mayors (those from Saint Laurent, La Gaude, Saint Etienne de Tinée), responded to this invitation.
For just under an hour, Christian Estrosi reviewed past and upcoming achievements. The list is quite long and showcases the undeniable activism of the Mayor of Nice, the President of the Metropole, and his team.
Nothing we didn’t already know, but it is undeniable that term after term, the city is changing for the better. Whether everything is coming up roses is another question.
Without delving into the electoral campaign, while setting a date for the next occasion, Christian Estrosi confirmed his support for the incumbent president, Emmanuel Macron, while understanding that his “friends” might choose other options, except the “extremes.”
Regarding this, as he exited the hotel where the meeting was held, an elected official, not really aligned with the former Republicans’ Gaullist faction, commented: “I believe he made the right choice.”
