This year, Yom Hashoah, the Memorial Day for the victims of the Holocaust, took place on Thursday, April 8th* in memory of 6 million people who died due to the Nazi madness during World War II (1939-1945).

In Nice, a commemoration ceremony was held outside the cemetery on Castle Hill, where the names of Jewish victims are inscribed. For health reasons, it was a private event.

The Mayor of Nice addressed the representatives of the Jewish community with these words: “This commemoration only makes sense if we build barriers against the irreparable every day. Beyond sorrow and fear, commemorating Yom Hashoah means committing to fighting against all causes of extermination.”
