For the launch of the MotoGP season at the Qatar Grand Prix, Fabio Quartararo finished in a disappointing 9th place this Sunday on the Losail circuit. The victory went to the surprising Italian rider Enea Bastianini, who claimed his first win in the premier class.
At 24 years old, the Italian rider (Ducati-Gresini) caused a surprise by winning his first Grand Prix in MotoGP on Sunday in Qatar, for the season opener, ahead of South African Brad Binder (KTM) and Spaniard Pol Espargaro (Honda).
The first Frenchman, Johann Zarco (Ducati-Pramac), finished 8th on the Losail circuit.
The next GP in this record season of 21 races until Valencia (Spain) on November 6 is unprecedented: it will be held in Indonesia, on the Mandalika circuit, on March 20.
Like many sports organizations since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, MotoGP is displaying the words “United for peace” during its television broadcasts this weekend. Several riders are also sporting a sticker “Give peace a chance” on their helmets.
