MotoGP: Oliveira wins in Indonesia ahead of Quartararo and Zarco

Latest News

Portuguese rider Miguel Oliveira (KTM) won the Indonesian Grand Prix on Sunday, the second round of the MotoGP season, on the rain-soaked track of the Mandalika circuit, ahead of two French riders, world champion Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha) and Johann Zarco (Ducati-Pramac).

The Grand Prix, delayed by an hour and a quarter due to heavy rain on the island of Lombok, was raced without Spanish rider Marc Marquez, a six-time MotoGP champion, who was sidelined with a concussion after a violent crash during the warm-up a few hours earlier.

Starting 7th on the grid, Oliveira claimed his fourth victory in the top tier, following two wins in 2020 and one in 2021.

In the championship standings, Enea Bastianini (Ducati-Gresini) remains the leader with 30 points after his surprise victory in Qatar two weeks ago, despite finishing 11th on Sunday. Brad Binder (KTM) is 2nd in the standings, two points behind, while Quartararo moves up to 3rd place after his disappointing 8th place finish in Qatar.
