Covid-19: still nearly 6,000 patients in critical care

This Tuesday, Santรฉ Publique France reports 338 new deaths linked to Covid-19, as well as 30,317 new infections.


These deaths, which occurred in hospitals, bring the total number of deaths from the epidemic to over 103,600 in France. Currently, 30,281 patients are being treated following a Covid-19 infection, compared to 30,596 on Monday, and 31,086 last Tuesday. 2,109 patients have been admitted to the hospital in the past 24 hours.

5,943 patients are in critical care, compared to 6,001 on Monday, and 5,984 last Tuesday. For about ten days, the number of patients in intensive care has been approaching 6,000, a figure below the peak of the first wave in April 2020 (around 7,000) but higher than that of the second wave in the autumn (4,900).

In terms of infections, the DGS counts 30,317 new cases this Tuesday, after 5,952 on Monday and 43,098 last Tuesday.

Vaccination

This Tuesday, the Directorate General of Health records 469,788 new injections. In total, 5,879,133 people (out of 14,579,482) have received both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine in France, representing 11.2% of the adult population.
