Next week, it will be cold, very cold, much more than the usual average temperatures at the end of February.
In a country like France, and more generally in Western Europe, our oceanic climate protects us from harsh winters, thanks to the mildness brought by a dominant westerly flow. However, it does not entirely exclude occasional cold incursions from the north and more rarely from the east…
And that is what will happen next week with a reversed circulation from Eastern Europe to the west of the continent.
The services of the City of Nice and the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis will be mobilized starting this weekend, in order to best protect the population and maintain infrastructure.
Meteorological monitoring of the situation is ensured to, if necessary, trigger the actions planned in accordance with the Communal Safeguard Plan.
An emergency system is already in place by the city’s social services and the Community Center for Social Action with exceptional accommodation and shelter measures for the most vulnerable groups.
In addition to its reception and accommodation services, the Community Center for Social Action participates in coordinating all emergency actors, such as partner organizations that also take charge of the homeless population (listening, support, assistance, care, meal distribution).
