We set aside the controversies surrounding the decision of the municipal majority to demolish the old TNN building and its split into several locations to promote program diversity.

For its first act of this new era, the former Franciscan convent will henceforth be the setting where the main plays programmed by director Muriel Mayette-Holtz will be performed.


This unique heritage site, at the heart of the city’s life, is a church from the second half of the 13th century, brought to light in 2012 thanks to the intervention of the City of Nice and its Nice Cรดte d’Azur Archaeology Service.

This highly anticipated new hall will officially open for the first performance on April 26 with “The Smile of Darwin” featuring the exceptional actress Isabella Rossellini.

Inaugurated last night, the new theater hall received admiration from those present and the resounding satisfaction of the Mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi: โ€œA lot of emotion tonight inaugurating alongside Muriel Mayette-Holtz the Franciscans Hall of the Nice Theater! This jewel of Nice’s heritage, once forgotten, will make Nice shine. We have been waiting for this moment for so long. Culture will take place everywhere in our City!โ€
