COVID-19: The numbers confirm the health improvement but not the end of the epidemic

According to the latest figures from health authorities, the period is experiencing a lull. This is first confirmed by the total number of hospitalized patients.


This Tuesday, 22,058 Covid-19 patients were still being cared for in French facilities, compared to 25,028 seven days ago. In the last 24 hours, 996 new patients have had to be hospitalized.

This is also true in intensive care units. This Tuesday, the latest available figures show 4,015 patients suffering from a severe form of the disease requiring care in specialized units. There were 4,743 just seven days ago.

In terms of mortality, a more variable data point, authorities reported 187 new deaths related to Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. The total number of deaths has surpassed the threshold of 108,000.

Regarding infections, Public Health France announced 17,210 new infections detected in the last 24 hours, compared to 19,791 seven days ago.

The focus remains on vaccination. The Directorate General of Health (DGS) indicates that 21,094,191 people have received at least one injection (31.5% of the total population and 40.2% of the adult population) and 9,121,804 people have received two injections (13.6% of the total population and 17.4% of the adult population).
