While France is experiencing a small taste of its pre-Covid-19 life, the virus has not disappeared, and the indicators remain very high.
On the hospitalization front, the slow decline that began nearly a month ago continues. According to the latest figures from Public Health France, 20,750 patients are currently hospitalized due to the coronavirus. In the last 24 hours, 709 new people have been admitted to the hospital.
In critical care, there are now 3,769 people, compared to 3,862 the previous day. 202 individuals have lost their lives in the last 24 hours.
Regarding cases, numbers have seen a dramatic decrease. However, there is an explanation for this phenomenon: they had been overestimated for months, with some positive tests being recorded twice instead of once. Public Health France finally resolved the issue this Thursday. The number of new infections has therefore not been published, but a rebalancing was carried out. Consequently, the total number of cases has dropped to 5,568,551 from 5,917,397 the previous day.
Vaccination, which will be open to everyone from May 31, continues to progress. 22,062,474 people have received at least one injection (which represents 32.9% of the total population and 42% of the adult population), and 9,426,373 people have received two injections. The vaccination pace remains high, with 672,339 doses administered in the last 24 hours.
