The 3rd edition of this contest has been launched!
Completely free and open to amateurs over 55 residing in the Alpes-Maritimes, it will feature teams of free triplets and will take place in all the communities and boules courts that wish to participate.
Pétanque is an iconic tradition of the Mediterranean lands. In the Alpes-Maritimes, it brings together nearly 10,000 licensed players, not counting all those for whom it is a leisure activity to be shared with family or friends.
This is why, in 2016, the Department wanted to integrate it into its “Seniors in Action” program and proposed the 1st edition of the “Pétanque Seniors 06” contest. The Department is already the organizer of one of the largest international pétanque competitions, the Europétanque of Alpes-Maritimes.
This year, the teams that emerge from the selection days will meet for a major qualifying day on Wednesday, July 18 at the Henri Bernard boulodrome in Nice.
While in 2016, 660 seniors (220 triplets) registered for the selection rounds, and in 2017, 700 seniors (234 triplets) did so, this year the goal is to reach 1,000 participants.
At the end of this day, the four semi-finalist teams will compete in the Europétanque, an internationally renowned sporting event, for a grand final on Sunday, July 22 at the Henri Bernard boulodrome.
The ambition of this contest is to allow all enthusiasts of this sport to practice, meet new people, and share their passion.
