Latest News

From this Monday to Saturday, the 29th Press and Media in School Week (SPME) is taking place. In the Nice Academy, various workshops are being organized to better understand the informational sphere, starting from a young age.

At the Rectorate, Emmanuel Ethis, the rector, presents the proceedings of this Press and Media Week, whose theme is titled “Where does info come from?” This year, 474 educational institutions, which means more than 72,000 students, are taking part in this initiative.

In the era of the internet and social media, this initiative allows individuals to address topics related to the media system, sources of information, as well as so-called “fake news.”

Following the launch of Cap’Radio in 2016, the Center for Media and Information Education (CLEMI) of the Nice Academy is taking the opportunity to officially launch its webTV, called Cap’TV, on the occasion of these six educational days.

#StopDangerousChallenges

Who hasn’t heard of the Ice Bucket Challenge, the Fire Challenge, or the Ice and Salt Challenge? For several years, these challenges, each as dangerous as the next, have proliferated online.

One of the latest to date: the Blue Whale Challenge. This “game,” as some describe it, involves fifty challenges. The first ones sometimes seem harmless, such as turning off a light, but the subsequent ones escalate in severity: “tighten your scarf” or “swallow detergent.” The fiftieth and ultimate stage of this challenge is to take one’s own life.

Students from grades 8 and 9 and those from the ULIS (Localized Unit for School Inclusion) of Marcel Riviรจre College in Hyรจres (Var), present at the inauguration of the SPME, produced a video to raise awareness and warn their peers about the risks involved. A poignant video, soon to be broadcast on FranceTV Education.
