This Thursday will mark the 6th edition of the National Day of Sport and Disability (JNSH).
In Nice, the student association “Initiative STAPS” and students from the “Sports Management” Bachelor’s program will organize this event at the Faculty of Sports Sciences.
In 2013, Nice and Avignon laid the first stones of this initiative. Today, twenty French cities participate in this operation of national scope. The objective of the JNSH? To raise public awareness about different disabilities and to promote the image of adaptive sports.
Throughout the afternoon, from 1 PM to 5:30 PM, fun and sports activities (blind football, wheelchair basketball, all-terrain wheelchair, table tennis, climbing, etc.) will be offered to both able-bodied and disabled participants to encourage sharing.
The day will conclude with a panel discussion addressing the question: “The media coverage of the Paralympic Games, what effects on the integration of people with disabilities?”
This debate will be moderated by Aurélien Lazzaro, president of the Handisport Departmental Committee 06, Patricia Scarpinato, head of the Sport and Disability Commission of the Departmental Olympic and Sports Committee 06, and Odile Diagana, the event’s patron.
