According to CRT Côte d’Azur, which published its report, in 2017, foreign visitors to the Côte d’Azur, across all types of accommodations, increased by 5%, reaching an absolute maximum of 5.8 million stays.
This performance constitutes a historic record, the last being reached (at 5.6 million) in 2000 and 2015. Foreign stays by plane even increased by 14% in 2017, reaching 2 million.
In the hotel industry, the average annual occupancy rate stood at 62% last year, a gain of 2.8 points compared to 2016, with a 5% increase in overnight stays, approaching the 10 million overnight mark for the first time since 2002.
According to David Lisnard, President of CRT Côte d’Azur France: “The year 2017 ended with a very positive outcome for the Côte d’Azur France destination.”
