Already interviewed by Nice Premium over a decade ago, David André Darmon has declared himself a candidate for the legislative elections under the banner of the political party “Tous Unis pour le vivant” for the third constituency of Alpes-Maritimes. He shared with our teams what truly motivated him to become a deputy for this region.

Nice Premium: What is your professional background?

David André Darmon: “I have been a lawyer since 2013 with a real commitment to serving people, but also to the animal cause. This has determined my candidacy the most. I have always been committed; I recall a first article from Nice Premium dating back to 2008 where I already had a very strong engagement with students in student defense associations. I was also appointed by the prefect of Alpes-Maritimes to the youth and sports service. I have also held various student mandates at the University of Nice Sophia-Antipolis.”

NP: Why do you now wish to turn to politics?

DAD: “It is the logical continuation of a commitment; animal law has evolved a lot in recent years. I think it is always interesting to have another point of view and another vision.”

NP: Have you ever held an elected position?

DAD: Never, I have always been bound to teaching tasks, so this is the first time.

NP: Do you think being a lawyer is an advantage in politics?

DAD: “I think it’s an asset. Knowledge of the law is useful to develop it, particularly in parliament. Although government-initiated laws are unfortunately superior, one must try at their level to work for the public good.”

NP: Why is the role of deputy important to you?

DAD: “It’s the idea of defending the animal cause, which I find very insufficient in parliament. Animals have long been considered objects; I want to change that, and I am convinced that as a deputy, I would have a better chance of achieving this. I, therefore, wanted to respond favorably to those who called me to run to defend this cause, which I completely differentiate from ecology. We must focus on quality legislative work, particularly to evolve the law concerning animals.”

NP: What are your qualities?

DAD: “I am humane, committed, young, combative, and motivated.”

NP: What message would you like to convey to your voters?

DAD: “I invite voters to support this candidacy, which is less followed than the presidential election. I invite them to carry a message and defend a cause for candidates who genuinely wish to serve the general interest.”

NP: Why are you using social media?

DAD: “Social media is a good way to speak to the entire population, all in the service of ideas and convictions.”

NP: Are you confident about the upcoming results?

DAD: “We always have confidence in the upcoming results. Especially concerning a first candidacy that aims to be unifying, humble, and carries a unique and different voice from other candidates. If this can lead to momentum, it will allow me to move things forward and defend the causes I deem useful.”
