Under the aegis of Christian Estrosi and Philippe De Mester, the ceremony for the presentation of the second phase of the Pasteur 2 hospital construction project took place on July 8.
Since its opening in 2015, the premises of Pasteur 2 hospital have been continuously remodeled to better meet the medical needs of the inhabitants of Nice. 110 million euros are allocated for the construction of a new building, seven stories high. By the end of 2024, the probable completion date of the project, Pasteur 2 will have, among other things, 537 beds compared to the current 397, 81 day beds, and 30 operating rooms. The Nice Hospital Center aims to renovate or rebuild 80% of the premises by 2025. This allows a patient to obtain, in 70% of cases, a private room.
The progress of the work
The 2021-2022 action plan includes earthworks, the installation of anchorage ties, the construction of the monumental staircase, and the completion of the building’s foundation. โWe began phase 2 work in 2016. We noticed cracks in the building. Our teams undertook two years of consolidation work by installing micropiles under the building,โ stated the architect. The work can officially begin as the Mayor, the Director General of ARS PACA, and the Director General of the Nice University Hospital laid the second foundation stone of the project today.
โA 21st-century hospitalโ
The mayor and president of the supervisory board of the Nice University Hospital emphasized that it is urgent for Pasteur 2 hospital to meet the demands of the 21st century. The future building aims to provide an answer to โurban and environmental questions.โ and become a โ21st-century hospital,โ as described by Christian Estrosi. Other projects are also planned for Pasteur. For example, the French Blood Establishment will be set up in 2023, the laboratories will be consolidated in building F around 2026, building M will be restructured, and the mortuary will be renovated.
