Covid-19: We are indeed in the fourth wave. The Health Pass extended and strengthened.

Latest News

After the Council of State issued a favorable opinion this Monday on the government’s bill aiming to extend the health pass and make Covid-19 vaccination mandatory for healthcare workers*, the Council of Ministers adopted the new anti-Covid-19 measures, including the extension of the health pass, before a review by Parliament this week, under the pressure of the epidemic’s resurgence in France.

The use of the health pass is set to be expanded on Wednesday at the entrance of all leisure and culture venues gathering more than 50 people, before being further extendedโ€”likely in early Augustโ€”to restaurants, cafes, shopping centers, medical facilities, and long-distance transportation.

The fine for failing to comply with the obligation to check the health pass has been reduced to 1,000 euros, instead of a 9,000 euro fine.

However, the Council of State validated the sanction of one year in prison and a 9,000 euro fine in the case of four violations within a 30-day period.

The text may be amended during the legislative process, which begins on Tuesday in the National Assembly before moving to the Senate.
