The increase in life expectancy is both a progress and a challenge for our society.

The commitment of the Alpes-Maritimes Department to the elderly is realized through home care support, accommodation aid, and many other programs and assistance to improve their living conditions.

Today, the Alpes-Maritimes has nearly 12,000 beds across 162 EHPADs (nursing homes).

Charles-Ange Ginรฉsy presented the 2018-2020 investment program. This plan has two objectives: to tackle the demographic challenge of an aging population to create conditions for “aging well” for everyone and to accelerate renovation work in EHPADs.

“The Ehpad 06 Plan presented continues to better address issues related to old age and dependency,” stated the president of the departmental council.

A large investment program from 2018 to 2020 of 20 million euros to fund construction or renovation work in 7 EHPADs in Contes, Nice, Puget-Thรฉniers, Gorbio, Peille, Villefranche, and Cannes.

Since 2009, the 06 Department has invested more than 31.2 million euros for the modernization of 25 public EHPADs. Moreover, 2,308 new places were opened between 2009 and 2017.
