National ceremony in tribute to France’s fallen in Indochina

The national ceremony of tribute to those who died for France in Indochina will take place at 11:30 AM at the War Memorial, Place des Victoires in Menton, and at 5:00 PM at the War Memorial, Quai Rauba Capeu in Nice.

Established by decree No. 2005-547 on May 26, 2005, this day of tribute corresponds to the day of the transfer to the Notre-Dame de Lorette National Necropolis of the remains of the Unknown Soldier of Indochina on June 8, 1980, the date marking the end of the Battle of Dien Bien Phu.

A memorial dedicated to those who died for France in Indochina is located in Frรฉjus on a hill overlooking the city. Inaugurated in 1993 by the President of the Republic, it houses nearly 24,000 graves of military and civilian personnel who died in Indochina.
