Yesterday morning, at the Ausseur barracks, the very site of the gendarmerie command, the ceremony for the formal assumption of office took place for the new commander of the Alpes-Maritimes gendarmerie, Colonel Nasser Boualam. He succeeds Colonel Vinot, who arrived in the Alpes-Maritimes in 2015 and has been appointed as a security attachรฉ to the French ambassador in Afghanistan.
Present were the civil authorities, Corps General Marc Lรฉvรชque, commanding the Provence-Alpes-Cรดte d’Azur gendarmerie region and the gendarmerie for the southern defense and security zone, and Georges-Franรงois Leclerc, the prefect of the Alpes-Maritimes.
Colonel Boualam, 44 years old, holds degrees in criminal sciences and management. He has commanded the departmental gendarmerie company of Perpignan since 2010.
The Alpes-Maritimes gendarmerie group comprises 844 active-duty military personnel and nearly 500 reservists. It consists of 64 basic units, and it is organized into 5 companies, 1 departmental road safety squadron, and 4 specialized units.
