Urban Waste Project: Distribution of “doggy bag” kits in 4 restaurants in Nice

Latest News

This Friday, the Mรฉtropole Nice Cรดte dโ€™Azur, a partner of the European project “Urban Waste” which advocates for reducing waste production and improving its management, will conduct an awareness campaign on food waste.

Each year, 1.6 billion tons of food are thrown away worldwide. This accounts for one-third of what is produced on Earth according to the FAO (the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations). If nothing changes, 66 tons of food will be discarded every second by 2030 according to projections by the Boston Consulting Group (BCG).

To try to reverse this trend and change mindsets, the Mรฉtropole Nice Cรดte dโ€™Azur will provide 50 restaurateurs in its territory with “doggy bag” kits. A second order for the same quantity has been placed to continue the initiative.

In Place Garibaldi, 4 establishments will benefit from this kit which includes 100 food boxes, 100 bottle bags, 100 transport bags, and a window sticker reading “ask for your doggy bag here.”
