The Euromed Cities Network, chaired by the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, recently presented a project to the Union for the Mediterranean for a Euro-Mediterranean Network of Innovation Centers for the Smart City. This project aims to replicate and adapt in the Mediterranean an innovation developed in the territory of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis.
The project has just been endorsed by the Union, thus allowing for the implementation of an initial experimental phase in three pilot cities before moving on to the regional development phase. The goal is to develop three platforms in the regions of Alexandria (Egypt), Tunis (Tunisia), and Fez (Morocco). The Euromed Cities Network is already in negotiations with the French Development Agency for the implementation of the Alexandria platform.
This project builds on the expertise developed by the Mediterranean Institute of Risk, Environment, and Sustainable Development (IMREDD), on the territory of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, and is executed within the framework of a partnership approach with this Institute.
