But what exactly is a tandem skydive? A tandem parachute jump consists of a jump from about 4,000 meters, with a dual-seat parachute, and it was originally created for educational purposes for a possible continuation in the sport of skydiving. The parachute is piloted by an instructor to whom you are securely attached, allowing you to enjoy the thrill of jumping into the void. It’s the fastest, safest, and most fun way to experience the emotions of skydiving and free fall. You will be harnessed with an instructor who will manage each phase of the jump.
No course or certification is required, and, in principle, anyone can do it without special restrictions. Most importantly, there is no need for a medical examination. After a jump briefing that will last a few minutes, you will board a turboprop plane that will reach the jump altitude in just under fifteen minutes, and the flight will commence. After jumping, in a few seconds, you will reach a speed of 200 km/h. During the next fifty seconds, you will fly in a unique atmosphere. After the parachute opens, you can enjoy an open canopy, and if you wish, you can steer it just before the landing that your instructor will perform safely.
The tandem skydive allows you to feel the thrill of exiting the aircraft, the sense of freedom in free fall, and the pleasure of flying with a tandem parachute with a qualified instructor. In this type of jump, the equipment used is designed and built for two people. But is the landing dangerous and violent? Thanks to modern parachutes, the landing is smooth and occurs like an airplane, gliding at low speed. A few steps are enough to stop.
Upon request, you can be filmed or photographed in HD. The video and photos will be delivered shortly after landing and can be used for a more effective debriefing. No medical certificate is required for a tandem skydive, but you must be in good health. If in doubt, you should contact your physician. An identification document is required, along with comfortable and fitted clothing, suitable for the season, and sneakers.
It is very important not to suffer from colds (especially not to have “clogged” ears and/or blocked sinuses) and not to dive within 48 hours before the jump. Remember not to consume alcoholic beverages within 8 hours before the jump and, of course, not to take drugs.
