At the Parc Impérial high school, the BTS communication program focuses part of the training on implementing concrete and enriching projects for the students. While they are not mandatory, they are highly recommended by the teaching team to prepare for entering the professional world. Today, we are focusing on the 2019 Calendar by the second-year students.
The school’s corridors are quite calm during class hours. In one of the many rooms of Parc Impérial, the second-year students in the BTS communication program present the teaser video of their project. In front of them, their teachers react and provide advice with tact. It must be said that the pressure is on, with less than a month before the evening event organized by the school in the presence of numerous communication industry partners.
During this event, the students will present their calendar created around the theme of the environment. Entitled “Still Lives,” it consists of various visuals illustrating the twelve months of the year. The young team has managed every step of the long development process, as well as the negotiations with the printer. The goal is to offer real-life experience and genuine contact with professionals. Ultimately, this will enable students to better understand their future work environment.
The photos have been staged to create a shock, a disturbing effect that questions our perspective. The students decided to associate still lifes (belonging to the world of painting) with the urgency of acting for the planet’s protection. They also had to think about writing texts to accompany the visual creations, all in order to weave a narrative through the months of the calendar.
Some of these visuals will be adapted into medium-format posters that can be displayed in cities within the department.
The Parc Impérial high school aims to promote these initiatives, which become training tools and a means of acquiring skills necessary for the students’ future. Besides the 2019 calendar, three other projects are noteworthy, also organized by the BTS.
