Regional Council: Heated Debate Between Muselier and the RN Over Left-Wing Representation

Latest News

“Pacta sunt servandi,” said the Romans skilled in law. Thus, during this Friday’s session, Renaud Muselier, who benefited in the second round of the regional elections from the withdrawal of the left and the ecologists, proposed the creation of a Committee for Ecological Gathering.

In a subtle way, it will allow the left and the ecologists, who withdrew in favor of Renaud Muselier, to express themselves: they will be able to propose a deliberation, a wish, and a motion at each plenary assembly, and deliver a general policy speech once a year.

Its implementation requires a modification of the assembly’s internal regulations, against which the National Rally (RN) voted, labeling it a “crude electoral quid pro quo.”

Thierry Mariani, the RN candidate, commented: “the unelected left will have more rights than the opposition”. A legal challenge will be filed with the Prefect.

“It’s true that we are inventing something that doesn’t exist, and we will ensure that it becomes legal,” responded Renaud Muselier, the LR president of the region.
