New Departure from OGC Nice, Once Again on Loan.
Trained at the club and turned professional in 2020, forward Evann Guessand will once again temporarily leave the Côte d’Azur to gain more playing time.
Already loaned out during the 2020-21 season to Lausanne Sport, where he showed promise (33 matches, 7 goals, and 5 assists), the forward who recently celebrated his 21st birthday will this time stay in France.
While he was speculated to be in the sights of Saint-Etienne, recently relegated to Ligue 2, the native of Ajaccio is expected to play in Ligue 1 instead, joining a team that has given OGC Nice quite a tough time this season. Indeed, according to L’Equipe, Guessand will seek to gain experience with FC Nantes, under Antoine Kombouaré, who defeated Gym in the Coupe de France final last May.

Last year, under the guidance of Christophe Galtier, he played 23 matches, scoring 1 goal and providing 3 assists. With European competition on the horizon for the Canaries, this experience will surely be beneficial for him. The supporters of the Eagles may be a bit less resentful, hoping that Guessand gains traction and returns to Nice with a higher profile (the loan does not include a purchase option).
