On July 14, 2016, our national holiday, a terrible attack caused the death of 86 people and injured hundreds. Since that day, the City of Nice has been doing everything possible to support the families of the victims and provide them with a tribute worthy of the name.
As part of a specific support unit in connection with the House for Victim Reception, the Nice City Council on October 13, 2016 approved the establishment of a Committee for the Memory of the Victims of July 14, 2016 and the monitoring of their families: Promenade des Anglais, memory and hope.
A steering committee was thus held on July 4, 2022, to organize the commemoration day which will take place on the upcoming July 14, in coordination and agreement with the four local victim associations “Promenade des Anges”, “Mémorial des Anges”, “Life for Nice” and “Une voie des enfants”.
“Six years after this terrible tragedy, the municipal tribute will be marked by the unveiling of the memorial work ‘L’Ange de la Baie’ by Jean-Marie Fondacaro, which will be installed on the Promenade des Anglais at the level of the Palais de la Méditerranée. This work and the site of its installation were unanimously chosen by the four associations. The unveiling of this work constitutes a new step in the path of resilience that we are all trying to follow since the tragedy of July 14, 2016 and also our duty to remember”, declared Christian Estrosi. This unveiling will be punctuated by 6 cannon shots marking the 6 years since the tragedy.

- 3:30 PM: Unveiling of the memorial work “L’Ange de la Baie”, by Jean-Marie Fondacaro followed by a tribute to the victims of July 14, 2016 – 15 Promenade des Anglais – South Side (Opposite Palais de la Méditerranée)
- 6 PM: Republican parade – Promenade des Anglais – Esplanade Jacques Cotta (Entrance to Albert 1er Garden)
- 9 PM: Concert by the Nice Philharmonic Orchestra – Place Masséna
- 10:34 PM: Illumination of 86 light beams – Promenade des Anglais
