This morning, the mayor of Nice appeared on BFM TV. During this interview, he expressed his views on the presidential elections, his relationships with Emmanuel Macron, Didier Raoult, and the reception of Afghan refugees.

“A true relationship of trust” is how Christian Estrosi describes his rapport with Emmanuel Macron, who, during the attacks in 2017, helped him “economically uplift his city.”

In subtle terms, the mayor affirms his support for the head of state and praises his management of the health crisis. “By August 20, there would have been 47,000 more deaths without vaccination.”

Christian Estrosi is adamant that the health pass is necessary. “It is a passport to freedom. Refusing it is almost like being outside the law; the health pass protects the economy and allows us to continue working.”

His separation from the Republican party is confirmed, and the mayor implicitly admits wanting to create a presidential majority. Once again, the mayor of Nice expresses his desire for local elected officials to have more responsibilities.

“No one agrees on anything. We can clearly see that political parties are damaged. For France to be strong, we need decentralization. I believe that with strong territories, we will have a stronger state.”

Christian Estrosi states his disagreement with Didier Raoult on vaccination. However, he still regards him as “one of the greatest researchers” and regrets his forced retirement. “We need Didier Raoult to work on major issues.”

A few days ago, the mayor of Nice opposed the reception of Afghan refugees in his community. Now, he reminds that “the right to asylum is an inalienable right in our country, and it is everyone’s duty to respect it,” while securing the reception process.

The elected official from Nice wishes to return to a policy of “quotas” similar to that of Nicolas Sarkozy’s term, which he considers “an absolute necessity.”
