Despite the inflation of energy and food prices, the Alpes-Maritimes Department will not increase the price of school meals for this academic year.

Indeed, the price of foodstuffs is rising and therefore will increase the price of meals in the canteen. However, this extra cost will be covered neither by the institutions nor by the parents, but by the Department.

Furthermore, in order to provide assistance in the face of rising energy and food costs, the Department voted in its last session for exceptional aid to public colleges: the cost is estimated to be between โ‚ฌ3 and โ‚ฌ5 million for the 2022/2023 school year. The “Cantine 06” aid aimed at low-income families is also maintained: it is a subsidy of โ‚ฌ1 per meal.

Eric Ciotti, Deputy and President of the Finance Commission of the Alpes-Maritimes Department, commented on this: “Despite the inflation of energy and food prices, the Alpes-Maritimes Department will not increase the price of the canteen for this start of the school year in its 73 establishments. I am pleased with the implementation of this exceptional support plan. At the same time, the departmental community offers a range of aids for families, including this contribution to catering costs through ‘Cantine 06’.”
