Meetings, debates, and discussions about neuro-evolutive diseases

Latest News

The National Space for Ethical Reflection on Neuro-evolving Diseases is organizing its Summer University for the second consecutive year in Nice. On the agenda, two days of meetings, debates, and exchanges on September 22nd and 23rd, 2022, at the Acropolis of Nice.

This new Summer University will focus on a central issue when faced with progressive neurological diseases: “Rediscovering Paths of Freedom”.

These diseases vary greatly from one another. The best-known are Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, or multiple sclerosis. Others are less well-known, such as vascular diseases, frontotemporal diseases, Lewy body disease, Huntington’s disease, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

Thus, these two days of meetings will facilitate the sharing of knowledge and experiences, as well as a collective reflection on questions and thoughts.

Workshops

The participants will be able to acquire and share a number of insights, benchmarks, and methods through ethics workshops.

Four recurring questions will be discussed:

  • Dealing with the refusal of help and care
  • Supporting the end of life
  • Maintaining an emotional and intimate life
  • Balancing safety and freedom

Debates

You can also participate in or attend two major debates addressing frequent ethical questions in the support of people living with a neuro-evolving disease.

  • When it comes to diagnosis and interventions, is earlier always better?
  • Are all truths always good to tell?

Flash Training

Additionally, a flash training session will offer tools and benchmarks for setting up and maintaining an ethical reflection body, as well as analyzing and debating ethically problematic situations.

Registration is free and mandatory
