Awareness conference on seismic risks

Latest News

On September 26 from 1:30 PM, the conference “What if the Earth Shook Tomorrow?” will take place at the Mediterranean University Center. A great way to raise public awareness about the dangers of seismic risks.

Many experts will be present to explain the causes and dangers of earthquakes, as well as the procedures to follow in such situations. Indeed, the metropolitan coastline is located in a seismic risk zone. With the danger being very real, the Nice Cรดte d’Azur Metropole is currently developing a plan to address this reality. It is therefore necessary to inform the public of these dangers, and thus provide concrete answers regarding this environmental risk.

On the program:

  • How an earthquake occurs and why our area is at risk, by Julien Balestra, PhD in seismology, GEOAZUR research engineer.
  • Retrospective analysis of earthquakes that occurred in the metropolitan area by Edmond Mari, PhD in geology, Mayor of Chรขteauneuf Villevieille.
  • Presentation of two earthquake scenarios: one at sea and the other on land, by Samuel Auclair, seismologist engineer, BRGM.
  • Presentation of the conduct to adopt during and after the event, the organization of emergency services and crisis management, by Frรฉdรฉric Castagnola, Lieutenant Colonel SDIS 06 and Olivier Javelle, Commandant SDIS 06.
  • Conclusion by Ladsilas Polksi, Mayor of La Trinitรฉ, Vice-President of the Nice Cรดte d’Azur Metropole in charge of major risk prevention.
