Architectural Exhibitions at the Urban Planning and Architecture Forum

Latest News

The Urban Planning and Architecture Forum, located at the heart of 109, a true hub of contemporary culture, presents us with two exhibitions. The first, Arboretum, explores the role of trees and vegetation within architecture itself. As for the Espaces possibles exhibition, it introduces us to “third places,” their concept, and their function in our modern society.

Arboretum: Trees as Architecture

The city of Nice is balanced between contemporary architecture and natural spaces. This is why the Urban Planning and Architecture Forum is offering this exhibition on trees and nature at the center of architecture. You can admire the exhibited works as a truly immersive walk. Between models of visionary projects, photographs of unusual places, or authentic plans and archives, it is a true journey into the heart of natural architecture.

While the city and vegetation may seem like two opposing concepts, artists from various backgrounds prove otherwise. By putting nature at the center of urban architecture, these talented artists demonstrate the perfect alliance these two different concepts can form. With many artistic works featured at this exhibition, Arboretum delivers the fantastic visions of these contemporary artists, all more surprising than fascinating.

Espaces possibles: Understanding Third Places

But what is a “third place”? This rather recent concept is not yet known to everyone, but this exhibition aims to change that. A third place refers to a building that has been repurposed for an entirely different function, or even to merge several functions. Third places are at the very center of architecture and projects of collaboration and socialization. Moreover, the Urban Planning and Architecture Forum is a perfect example of a third place. In fact, before its opening in 1999, it was a former slaughterhouse. The location was thus repurposed to become this space for cultural exchange and sharing.

Through this exhibition, many archives will provide you with information on third places worldwide. Photographs, videos, documents, as well as impressive models will take you on a journey to discover third places.

These two exhibitions are running until October 15th. You still have a little time to enjoy them. So don’t hesitate to visit these exhibitions with surprising concepts.
